About Barbara

Goals of Barbara:

1.  To develop an INSULATED HIVE that mimics the environment of a warm tree trunk.

2.  To develop a hive that any woman can manage with ease.

NO heavy lifting is required.  Just lifting one frame at a time.

3.  To develop a hive design that aligns with bee physiology.

4.  To create an organic/biodynamic teaching/research bee sanctuary where bees are allowed to be bees.  Thank you to the philanthropist who funds this endeavor!

5.  To research alternative healing modalities as a way to restore and balance all energies within a honeybee hive and nearby lands.

6.  To work with bees gently and to allow the bees to teach me.

Barbara's 30 year training program with alternative health started at age 22 when she was diagnosed with high cholesterol.  This was followed by hematuria genetic disorder (blood leaks into urine from kidneys), candida, migraines, lumps and bumps, hay fever, giardia parasite infestation, chronic fatigue and arthritis.

Many thousands of hours were spent earning a classical homeopathy degree, reading/researching, going to alternative therapists, taking courses and doing webinars to find solutions to each challenge.  She knew that there was a solution to every challenge.  Her Dad had taught her to keep asking questions until she found an answer that resonated with her. The right combination for her body appeared as she collected pieces to each puzzle.  Over time, each challenge turned into an opportunity as she continued to learn about herself - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Each challenge was successfully balanced on all levels of her being.

Ironically, Barbara and her husband had bought an 89 acre farm in 1990.  It had naturalized since WWII and was fully grown with hawthorn trees, apple trees, goldenrod, bird's-foot trefoil and many other 'weeds'.  Everything they planted was either eaten by deer, mice or out competed by weeds.  After asking the Universe what to do with this farm, BEES came in as an answer.

Barbara was guided to use the WARRE hive and flower essences with the bees first.  She took the knowledge she had learned over the last 30 years and applied it to bees, with great success.  Eventually she realized the warre hive is not a hive that a woman can manipulate by herself due to heavy lifting.  So she now builds horizontal, insulated hives that she can manage independently.

Eventually Barbara was introduced to other healing modalities.  What a great addition to her life and the bees' life.  They were simple, safe and available to all.  Even her cat uses/drinks water from these modalities and has abundant health.

Barbara has spent 33 years continuously learning about and teaching science. She has:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture (Crop Science from the University of Guelph)

* Master of Science in Environmental science (read weed science/pesticides from the University of Guelph)

* Bachelor of Education from the University of Western.

* Specialist of the blind which allowed her to teach high school science at a blind/low vision school for 26 years.

At the same time Barbara was learning about alternative health /energy medicines to heal her own health challenges. Some include:

Classical homeopathic Diploma

Source Energy Medicine Practitioner

Reiki Master

Sustainable Biodynamic Beekeeper Training with Gunther Hauk

She presently is on the executive of two boards:

* Golden Horseshoe Beekeeping Association: 2018 - present

* Society for Biodynamic Farming and Gardening in Ontario: 2019 - present

Over time, civilizations have either embraced the Divine Masculine or the Divine Feminine as their foundational beliefs. None of these civilization lasted because both polarities are needed to balance each other out. They complement each other as each polarity has important talents and abilities to contribute to the WHOLE.

The Divine Masculine qualities include logical, scientific, analytical, wisdom, and action. The Divine Feminine qualities include intuitive, heart centered, creative, unconditional love, reverence for ALL life, and gentleness. It is time to unite the Divine Masculine (mind) and the Divine Feminine (heart) and work from a place of peace and balance to restore Mother Earth and ALL her kingdoms back to health.

As I have been learning about honeybees and how to be a steward for them, I have been asking the Universe to help me find ways to deal with the challenges beekeepers and honeybees are faced with while trying to keep their bees alive and healthy. Many healing modalities have been introduced to me. I know these healing modalities do not have science to prove they work YET, but why not try them ... especially as they are free. Beekeepers are experimenters at heart.  So I encourage you to try out one or two of these modalities and see how your honeybees do.

We are the stewards of this planet and new tools are arriving regularly to help us with the task of restoring balance to ALL on this beautiful Earth. Many of these new tools are very different from what we were trained to believe. With an open mind, good observation skills, and the curiosity to try something different, we might find that balance and healing can come in many ways.

May your journey be blessed with much wonder and may ALL bees be abundantly happy and healthy.
